We did it.  We completely surprised Ike for his 6^th birthday with a trip to Disney!  We told him for the last few weeks that there was going to be a surprise for his birthday.  The day before his birthday we woke him up at 4am and I asked him if he was ready for his birthday surprise?  I told him we were going on a trip and he had to open this present to find out where we were going.  He sat up and opened the present, a kids guide book to Disney!  “We are going to Disney World!” and then repeated “Thank you, thank you” for the next few minutes.  We got everyone dressed and headed to the airport for our 7am flight.

Fall fun!

 Ike loves to play in the woods and explore so of course Legare likes to tag along.

The boys and I went to pick some apples at Bishops this beautiful Fall afternoon but little did we know they closed at 5pm and we arrived 4:45pm ... we said no problem, grabbed 2 bags and off we went giggling all the way.   

We managed to get 21lbs of apples - what will we do with them you say... good question!  We are going to take a bag down to our new neighborhood horse barn with a welcome note and then Ike wants to make a pie :)  

 Legare found a record size apple and was so proud!

 this sweet woman asked me if I wanted her to take our picture and I initially paused because I hadn't brushed my hair and felt a mess but then I said 'sure'!  

It is my new goal to be in more photos with the boys and I won't even complain that Ike wasn't looking at the camera.

 ike is an expert picker and filled his bag in no time flat

 I am not sure what the reason was but I looked over and they were hugging.

Jimmie & Pepe Visit

I am back to blogging!   This seemed like an appropriate post to restart the Podunk Chronicles after a little hiatus.   Jimmie & Pepe came to visit while Harcourt was on a world tour for business and the timing couldn't have been better.  The boys were spoiled with late drop-offs and early pick-ups with occasional trips to Ashley's for milkshakes!   We did lots of projects around the house including making the boys a "little boy cave" with an area for their table, pottery barn chairs and their own tv :)  I told my Mom that I could never have done it myself, I am not that good at juggling to start big projects but with their help it was possible.   My Mom also spoiled us with lots of home cooked meals and a freezer full of meals and spaghetti sauce!

Legare really enjoyed playing with them and now that he can communicate more we can all play with him better.  Although, sometimes he can be VERY demanding!  Ike always loves to be spoiled with the attention and love :)

These visits are certainly special and I cherish the interactions.

 I think Pepe spent most of his visit on the floor playing "lumber yard" with the boys and their blocks!

 the "lumber yard" isn't complete without a few bulldozers and diggers!
