Trimmed down

Over the weekend Harcourt and I debated about what to do about Ike's hair- it used to be cute when he had a full head of it but he was very thin on the sides and back so the top section was really looking like a bad comb-over. So, we got out the clippers last night and gave him a real cut- he was very good about it. We think he looks much better- more like a baby boy rather than a balding man with a bad toupee. It is also much lighter in color now that we removed the darker comb-over so he does look different! We still don't know who he looks like but only time will tell.

Progress note: We are keeping our fingers crossed as his reflux seems to be getting a little better. He now sleeps in his bouncy seat in his crib and that has done wonders-- we are back to waking only 2-3 times a night instead of every hour so that has greatly improved everyone's mood.

We went for a nice hike in West Woods yesterday with Ike, Nilla and Beamer. This morning we woke up to 4" of fluffy snow which was nice to see since we have had such little snow this winter.

It has been a while since our last posting because our life has been more than challenging in the last week. Poor little Ike has been fighting a tough battle with his reflux but thanks to modern medicine, lots of Maalox and love from Mom and Dad he is starting to slowly improve.

I have decided that parenting is not for the birds!! Throughout the years we have watched lots of our friends have babies and they made it all look so easy. I am here to say that listening to your helpless baby cry when you try to feed him is so incredibly taxing and then we he decided to start waking up each hour of the night that is not so fun either. But at the same time we love this little person so much that we will do anything and everything we can for him and when we seem him happy it makes it all worth it - I guess that is what parenting really is.

Pepe came up for a visit on Saturday night on his way to New Jersey for business- what a nice treat! Other than Ike's reflux we have been passing the stomach bug and a cold around our house too- I think we even infected Pepe- sorry!!!

Ike will be 11 weeks old tomorrow and he is 13.5 lbs and 25 inches long. When Ike was born we thought for sure he would lose all that hair but it looks like it might be here for good. It has only thinned out a little on the sides so the top was starting to look like The Donald so we decided to give him a little trim last night. We waited until he was asleep and then tackled the fro :-) I think we did a pretty good job! We aren't sure where he got all this hair from but it is pretty funny as it likes to stand straight up- we are still holding out that he may end up with Harcourt's curls.

One minor hiccup in Ike's life is that he has developed acid reflux (aka colic) and now seems to be less smiley than we like. We are hoping that with medicine and time things will resolve sooner rather than later.

The past 10 days have not gotten above 28* , so today we had it all. There is a secret pond down in the Old Quarry neck of the woods that has been labeled as "the powder stash of the ice world". Everyone met up for skating and a game of pickup pond hockey. I have not been on skates in while so my skills were less than par, but it was great none the less. A big thanks goes to the Streeter boys who got the permission for the private rink. I hope there are some more games to follow.

Super Weekend

It was a Super Weekend! With Pepe here we enjoyed father, daughter, grandson bonding time- thanks Pepe for coming to visit us :-) Harcourt returned from the Chicago boat show on Saturday and Sunday was a Super Bowl party at the Tuttle/Mulligans house and it was complete with good company, kids with lots of fun toys, plasma tv and wings.

Today was day 1 back in the working world and Ike and I made it. I was so excited to go and pick him up this afternoon!! Tomorrow the sitter, Maggie, comes to play with Ike at our house and Ike is looking forward to showing her the ropes.
