She sets sail today! I can't even count the hours of work Harcourt has put into this project for Ike and Ike is his right-hand helper. There is a little more tweaking to go with the rig so but we borrowed a yacht club rig and set sail today. It was a perfect light air day and Ike was grinning from ear to ear and all he kept saying was "this is awesome".
Legare always knows where Ike is, if only
you could hear the screetching sound effects that go along with this photo.
Legare enjoys playing on the Shelter and I can't wait for next Summer
when he can hopefully keep up with Ike a little better.

Harcourt got a new toy sailboat this summer called a Moth. It is a morph between a dinghy sailboat and a windsurfer. He has sailed it a few times and Ike has of course being begging for a ride and he did finally get his chance! We will work on getting better photos of it actually “flying” with its blades that allow it to ride above the surface of the water. Ike is so fascinated that he wants to name his new* opti, Mini Moth.

A Tennis Star is Born
Ike is taking tennis & swimming lessons this Summer through the yacht club. He was super excited (no surprise) about taking tennis this year but I wasn’t sure how it was going to pan out since he never picked up a racket! We started off with a bang with hand me down tennis shoes from his buddy Hayden, a new racket from Kyle and a poster of tennis stars hanging in his room (free gift with the racket). He is loving it and really seems to be picking up the skill as evidence by this photo that Hannah took at a recent lesson. He has 2 amazing teachers, Andy & Nick. Ike is always telling me "Mom, my coach Andy says I am great!" :) Tennis is a big part of the Sawyer family and I know this photo makes Jimmie proud!

Last Sunday was a crisp and cool day so Ike, Harcourt, Scott & Lizzie went out to Faulkners Island to check out the seals before Harcourt's frostbite sailing. Definitely getting the most out of a last weekend on the water before the ice arrives!

I have been remiss with my blogging these days but we still have been having a great Summer! We have been VERY busy this Summer... making the most of being very pregnant in the heat, enjoying our last days as a family of 3, surviving several July heat waves, shooting a wedding 4th of July weekend, moving out for a week to have our upstairs floors refinished, setting up Ike's new room, recreating the nursery, Ike perfecting riding his bike on 2 wheels, swimming lessons, loving having Hannah here to enjoy the days with Ike, Mommy spending 4 days in the hospital with the stomach bug, logging endless hours at the yacht club with friends on the weekends and making banditos in the garage with Daddy!

I picked up Ike from school early today and we went for an adventure down to the yacht club rocks - always fun to play with tidal puddles, sticks, seaweed and snails. He is all boy....
As usual, he ended up wet.
Seadog Worlds

Last weekend Sachems Head Frostbiters hosted the 'Seadog Worlds' - there was much anticipation as the competition from Rhode Island arrived in a rented truck full of Seadogs. It was a blustery December day and only for those who truly love to sail. Cutter was 2nd, Harcourt was 10th with Whitney not far behind.

Labor Day

Labor Day this year was a fun filled finale to the yacht club season -- including but not limited to: a morning at the airport with Harcourt, lunch & swim off the boat, Ike's first pre-race sail, race spectating, ice cream & treats at the club, swimming off the dock, playing in the outside shower at the club with lots of friends and cheering at the yacht club Labor Day awards. And that concludes Ike's 3rd yacht club season and now we are preparing for Dana's wedding on 9/19!
