Ella Grey is the 2 1/2 year old daughter of our friends The Richs from Wilmington, NC- she had surgery yesterday for a mass in her brain at Duke. We have been thinking of her and her family and hope she has a smooth road to recovery.

Jimmie and I did a little shopping for Summer clothes for Ike and I needed to try on a few for size and as a result he was jumping up and down saying "go to beach, NOW!". We had to break it to him that it would be a little while before he will be needing his shorts and short sleeves.

I couldn't believe how old he looks in this one...2 going on 12!

Jimmie and Pepe came for a great visit this past week and they brought a bug catcher kit (along with some new fuzzy crocs, thus the pj's unzipped) for Ike which happened to coincide with the start of ladybug season in our house (its an old house thing...) so he was thrilled to capture and talk to his ladybugs. We even took them to school on Thursday for a little show and tell.

Ike got this airplane from Santa and Harcourt decided to try it out after our last big snow storm... the dogs of course are very enthusiastic about anything that flies in the air. Ike was more interested in snow balls!

Today we went with the Lai's to Mt Southington, CT (45 mins from our house) for a little Luau Day skiing...thus the plastic leis - this was a first family trip to Southington, Harcourt used to go there some as a kid. The forecast was for a Spring warm up but we had no idea it was going to end up being 65, sunny, blue bird skies and soft/sticky snow perfect for the little guys. We all got a little sunburn on our face, we certainly weren't thinking about packing the sunscreen!! Nola and Ike did amazingly well and the warm weather certainly helped the stamina and morale. Ike skied for the first time by himself today and I think he was 50% shocked and 50% excited- the word FUN just kept coming out of him and pretty much the only time he cried was when we didn't go up high enough on the mountain. We enjoyed a nice BBQ lunch outside! A great day all around and a big thanks to James, Julie, Hayden & Nola!

If the wood stove is going, Nilla is almost always found sitting or sleeping next to it. There are no words to describe how simply sweet she is.

12 inches of freshy pow pow in March!

On Monday, we woke up to 12-13 inches of beautiful snow... school was cancelled for the first time in 2+ years and Harcourt & Ike stayed home to play with Beamer and Nilla out in the snow! Beamer is a Southern dog through and through and would definitely prefer a nap outside in the hot sun but playing in the snow with Nilla is fun too.
