Ike - 5 year stats

Ike went for his check-up this year and he has grown and 3.5 inches and 4.5 lbs since last year! He is really going through a growth spurt right now and easily eating twice as much food in a day as he did a month ago. The other morning he asked for a 3rd piece of french toast for breakfast!
- 45 inches (75th percentile)
- 42 lbs (60th percentile)
Ike loves the snow, skiing, Vermont and anything associated with the white stuff! Although he does often ask if we can move to Hawaii or California :) On our annual voyage to Sugarbush this year, he made it 4 full days with the big boys as I was back at the condo managing Legare. I think one day it was 10 degrees and we told him it was going to be so cold and tried to get him to cave in but he didn't and Harcourt said he didn't complain once. He took a ski lesson one day and really enjoyed it - the instructor said he was very impressed with what Ike could do. We have 2 more Vermont trips coming up soon and he is so excited to get back out there! Yesterday, we had a small snow event that turned into slush but he jumped out of bed and couldn’t wait to get his boots on to frolic around in the snow.
Ike is still the sweetest boy and loves his family so much. However, as anticipated, his patience occasionally wears a little thin for Legare when he comes to take or destroy what Ike is playing with (legos, blocks etc) but he is amazingly cool about it and adapted his playing style accordingly. He knows Legare so well and whenever Legare starts to cry Ike will shout "Peek-a-boo! Where's Ike?!" in the hopes of getting him to laugh :) At night after bath, they love to play on Ike's bed and it all ends with them in their pjs snuggling and hugging each other. Watching their interactions makes my heart melt and puts all the hard work of parenting 2 right into perspective!

We then packed up the car with ski gear for some 55+ degree Connecticut skiing at Mt. Southington. Harcourt had Ike going without the harness for the first time since the snow was nice and slushy. Ike did great and really got down the technique of keeping his hands on his knees for better balance. The grin was on his face 95% of the time and it was contagious. My job was to photograph and manage the layers as they came off from the warm sun. Until next winter...

Today we went with the Lai's to Mt Southington, CT (45 mins from our house) for a little Luau Day skiing...thus the plastic leis - this was a first family trip to Southington, Harcourt used to go there some as a kid. The forecast was for a Spring warm up but we had no idea it was going to end up being 65, sunny, blue bird skies and soft/sticky snow perfect for the little guys. We all got a little sunburn on our face, we certainly weren't thinking about packing the sunscreen!! Nola and Ike did amazingly well and the warm weather certainly helped the stamina and morale. Ike skied for the first time by himself today and I think he was 50% shocked and 50% excited- the word FUN just kept coming out of him and pretty much the only time he cried was when we didn't go up high enough on the mountain. We enjoyed a nice BBQ lunch outside! A great day all around and a big thanks to James, Julie, Hayden & Nola!

This weekend we went up to the Connor's house at Mt Snow, VT with the Petersons and Smiths.... 4 kids under 2 3/4 turned out to be full time fun!

On Saturday, Whitney, Stacey, Carol and I hit the slopes from first run of the day to lunch and then we swapped out with the Dads for the afternoon. It was a beautiful day and we filled it to the brim with fun... snowmobiles, skiing and great friends!

In the afternoon, we took Ike to the mountain to test out his new skis and ski leash and he did great, he kept nudging himself forward to "Go Fast!".... he is a 2 yr old ski bum and when the lift closed he cried.
On Sunday morning, Ike persuaded Molly to try her skis on the mountain and I think she far exceeded her Mom's expectations and proved that she was ready! Carol and Paul were there to help out and we can't wait to see Molly and Ike ski together each year.

Here are just a few misc pics from Vermont to show all the antics that Ike was up to!
When the toys we brought started to get old- we made the Budweiser box into a soccer goal and that seemed to be a hit!
Auntie Dana loved putting Ike's hair in "ponies" and he loves anything that Dana does! (So much so that he liked to torture her early in the morning with "wake up Dana" and then proceeded to take the covers off her bed!)

On the final night, New Years Eve, we had the annual fireworks spectacular (thanks Pierre) but this year it was so cold (below zero) we watched from the inside of the Bennett/Johnson condo.

This was the last run of our trip to Vermont and Ike was legitimately skiing with his Daddy.
Getaway to Vermont

On Sunday, Harcourt and Ike headed up to Manchester, VT for a little getaway and we had a fun, fun time! Maggie took care of Ike and the Podunk animals and because she is so great we just waved goodbye and knew they were going to have more fun without us :-)
We had been away from Ike for 1 night last Fall but we decided it was time to make the effort to getaway for a few days this Winter. I found a great online deal at the Equinox Inn & Spa. On Monday, we went skiing at Bromley (aka "The Sun Mountain") and it was blue skies and mid 30's! We had a ball!! There was no one on the mountain and we could almost ski from the top to the bottom without passing another person... and all for only $25 per person- what a deal! The slopes were nicely groomed and we found this one super wide trail that we were able to "let it rip" and make some crazy super G turns all the way down. We remembered how fun it is be together enjoying the great outdoors!!
Other than skiing, we did some walking and shopping through town and ate some yummy food. We also enjoyed the outdoor hot tub that was part of the hotel spa and even Harcourt sported the white robe in the spa- wish I could have had my camera for that!!!! All in all, it was a huge treat for us and we are so glad we went.

(Footnote from Kerry: This is not as dangerous as it looks...Harcourt hiked up the bottom part of the bunny hill by the lodge in an area that was not crowded and skied down. It was actually a blast to wathc them both so excited!)
