Last week, Harcourt was helping out with some team racing down at the Club so Ike and I headed out in the Whaler to watch. It was a beautiful July night with calm waters which was nice for us but little wind for sailing. 
Sunday was a beautiful day and we decided to rally for a last minute picnic on the boat with the Lais, the Dunnes from Princeton (Julie's cousin) and the Fitton Family. Finn Dunne experienced his first time in a life jacket and seemed to enjoy boating so much that he didn't want to nap and miss anything... though he did finally konk out on the way back in. Finn & Archibald were hanging out while Ike & Hayden were up to their usual boating antics. I have been meaning to document Ike's saying more on the blog so here we go. For a little background, I tend to look at my watch and tell Ike "5 more minutes" to help prepare him for the end of whatever it is we are doing.
So, this morning as I was in the process of saying my goodbye, Ike and I were having a snuggle moment on the couch and he grabs my arm and taps on the face of my watch and says, "Mommy! Five more minutes with me, then you go to work."
I just can't get enough of him!!!
Ike is completely potty trained now for the last 2 weeks or so and we are so proud of him. We feel very fortunate that it was such an easy process- I think it was a combination of many things: he was ready, he is at home this summer, he has been going on the potty since 18 mos and most of all is the fun of peeing outside in the summer... on grass, rocks, bushes, water etc... :-) Oh to be a little boy!
We started playing or attempting to play some games with Ike and he is definitely intrigued. Today, Sydney & Ike hit Walmart and came back with Candyland! It was the game of the night tonight... I am ashamed to say I had to read the directions!
Last weekend we had some friends over for a little backyard fun! The kids are so fun to watch and our yard is great because the adults can keep watch over the yard from the comfort of the terrace. Mark Steffen did a great job being the camp counsellor for the evening and getting the kids running with lots of fun games. 
We enjoyed this month's book club out at the beach to make the most of the nice weather- it was a little cool but we had great food, good conversation and of course, a little wine. I am so lucky to have such great friends!!
This Summer Ike is out of school for a little break and at home with our favorite sitter, Sydney. On Wednesday, Ike went with Sydney & her friend to the Beardsley Zoo. They had a blast and Ike loved all the animals- I think the highlights were the "big bad wolf" and the buffalo... he asked Sydney if he could ride the buffalo!

Tonight was a fun kids night at SHYC with a sea creature theme. Ike was very into the craft portion and made a nice goldfish. Then a marine biology teacher gave them a quick lesson about sea animals and then a field trip out to the club rocks to see what they could find. I never knew how many cool things lived in the little pools out on the rocks- the kids had a blast. A classic 2.5 yr old move was when the teacher gathered all the kids at a tidal pool and was showing them a snail when Ike decides to jump right into the puddle! A good time was had by all!
