So after my 9th race week and 5th on Savasana we finally came home on top of the leader board. Good times with a great team..

We picked up a new fire truck toy today on the clearance rack at Target while we doing one of Ike's favorite things to do with Mama, "shopping!" (mostly for food or items at Walmart so not exactly my kind of shopping). He came running in the door to put on his FIRE HAT so that he could play with his new truck. The fascination with the hat comes from a book we got from the library about firemen and a little fire dog that wears a hat. This hat came all the way from SC from his cousin Lillie who visited the Isle of Palms Firehouse last year and sent this hat to Ike. Thanks Lillie!
~'2' shirt is his custom birthday shirt from Ashley Fitton, reminds me that I never did a post on his party, I will get on that! Harcourt arrives home tonight from his 9 days in Key West and Ike and I ended our solo streak on a great note. We had a fun date night at Friendly's where we both had grilled cheese, fries & ice cream. Ike was great and he is definitely getting to be more fun to take out to eat. He can't wait to see him Daddy bright and early in the morning.

Ike had a bad cold this week so we spent much of the week at home in our jammies, all the while Daddy is down in Key West racing sailboats. Today, Kyle came over for the morning so I could go to work for a few hours. I managed to get a few fun shots while he was playing (thanks to the makers of Tylenol and Motrin).
Maggie gave Ike this barn for his 1st birthday and he still loves it. Now he talks to all the animals in the barn :-) The light was so nice so I couldn't resist.
Nilla and Beamer were happy to come and go as they pleased while we were hanging out at home. The snow is still deep outside but they insisted on playing ball but as you can see it is hard to hold a snow ball!
Jimmie sent him a new crib sized down blanket which he LOVES! "thank you Jimmie"

Our first African American President, Barack Obama, was inaugurated today and I watched the swearing in from my office lunchroom- packed and standing room only. As I heard many times today, it doesn't matter who you voted for... everyone should be proud to be an American and this is a day I will never forget. Ike had a fever/cold today so we came early and got to watch some it it on live tv. We had several friends in DC today amidst 2 million people to see this moment in person- James, Julie & Hayden (6 yr old), Jordan Goffi (AH friend) and Maggie, Matt & Elizabeth Moffett-Reale! I got a few cell phone images from them which was very cool.

Bookworm
Ike is a real bookworm and I captured a few shots of him last night as a fun memory. Our routine is dinner, play, bath, movie (these days it is usually an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Handy Manny) and then upstairs to read books and hit they hay. The book reading is quite it's own little routine and we usually read 6-8 books and we always end with Good Night Moon. (note: I attribute most of Ike's love for books to his incredible school and how much they read to the kids)
Uncle Dean
Dean came out to Guilford this weekend to keep Ike and I company while Harcourt is in Key West and we had a great time! There was lots of yummy food, good tv, warm fires (-11 on the thermometer!), great company and Ike simply couldn't get enough of his Uncle Dean. Please come back soon Dean!
Dean is always good for play-doh and the funniest thing is watching the dogs be part of the action too!
Ike the Builder & His Vacuum
Ike really loves to vacuum but I am pretty sure it is only because he thinks it is "Ike the Builder" related... last I checked there is no vacuum holder on his tool belt :-) But, I don't complain! When I get the vacuum out he gets his vacuum and hard hat on and this time he even wanted to try my vacuum. It totally cracks me up!

2009 Tree Burn

We had a snow storm during our annual party this year so the crowd was slim but mighty! The fire went on and the trees did not disappoint. There is something very cool about being out by a big fire in the middle of a blizzard!

This was the result of our tree- she was nice and dry. Ike was very sad about the Christmas Tree not being in the house anymore so I told him we could keep Christmas cards for a while (which is right up next to the Turkey he made at school that we can't seem to part with either :-)

When the toys we brought started to get old- we made the Budweiser box into a soccer goal and that seemed to be a hit!
Auntie Dana loved putting Ike's hair in "ponies" and he loves anything that Dana does! (So much so that he liked to torture her early in the morning with "wake up Dana" and then proceeded to take the covers off her bed!)

On the final night, New Years Eve, we had the annual fireworks spectacular (thanks Pierre) but this year it was so cold (below zero) we watched from the inside of the Bennett/Johnson condo.

Ike got a very special Christmas card from Jimmie and Pepe and as you can see from this clip he enjoys it- especially the part with Jimmie and Pepe talking/singing.

This was the last run of our trip to Vermont and Ike was legitimately skiing with his Daddy.
